Are You Coming Across As Desperate In Your MLM?
I just had a realization earlier. Here are a couple industry average statistics you need to know:
An average person will sponsor a new rep every 6 months while making less than 10 bucks a week.
Now that I think about it, I actually fall into that category in my first 3 years… although I made slightly more than 10 bucks a week.
With results like that, no wonder why an average rep is so desperate for a new sign up.
I mean… I used to offer prospects free lunch and a free coffee as long as they are willing to hear me out.
And in the rare occasion that I sponsored a new rep, I would call the rep 3 times a day just to make sure they are still excited.
I went as far as playing Dr. Phil and listen to drama for 3 hrs when my reps had personal life problems. (I know some of you reading this are guilty of that as well
)
Have you ever heard the saying ‘nice guys don’t win’?
It’s true!
Once I ‘got it’ and embraced the human psychology and truly understand attraction in business, everything changed.
I went from:
- being the hunter to the hunted.
- desperately doing follow ups to propsects leaving voicemails
on my phone saying they are ready to join
- struggled to sell a $390 start up to hand over fist getting enrollments
in a top tier program (2k, 10k, 20k)
- reps in the same company as me begging to resign up under my line.
(even though I don’t let them)
To say the least, it was a big pivotal point to my business once I understood attraction. And I think your business will change once you get it also.
I’m telling you, its not the computer, internet, or crazy latest and greatest marketing techniques that will make you rich. It is the true understanding of people and being able to trigger people’s attraction mechanism.

When prospects feels that you need to sponsor them to get your bonus paycheck, they will do everything possible to blow you off.
Once I discovered how to use value to attract then use take away to close, recruiting new reps in my business was like selling candy to a kid.
If you didn’t catch that, I want you to read the last sentence again. Once you “get it“, you will never look at recruiting the same say again.
The feeling of recruiting can actually go from haunting anxiety to exciting adrenaline… you will
literally get addicted to the feeling of recruiting.
1 mega tip to try out in your prospecting today that will guarantee you get better results:
Start off your conversation with a time constraint after your greeting.
Your prospects will always respect you more when they see that you value your own time. When you make it clear that you are not going to spend an hour convincing them to join and that you have other people who desires your time, you become attractive.
Example opening:
You: Hi Jane, this is Jim and I’m getting back to you regarding the info you requested from my website. Is this a good time to reach you?
Jane: sure.
(quick 1 minute rapport building then move into the following)
You: I will keep this conversation short and brief as I have an appointment in 15 minutes. Were you able to review all the information on xyz website?
If no, send them back to website (there’s actually another proccess here to screen them before you send them back to website)
If yes, ask them what they like best about it.
The rest of the conversation obviously won’t fit in this email. But the key for every prospecting conversation is always let your prospects know that you are busy and your time is valuable.
Be sure to create an environment where your prospects know you are here to qualify them for your time. And only when they demonstrate they have the qualities that you are looking for will you sponsor them into your business.
When you communicate value like that you will suck your prospects into a realm of your own… where you make the rules and if your prospects want to stay they have to play by your rules.
I can probably write a book about it I know haha.
But this is exactly the play book I went by for the past couple years to become a well respected top producer in this industry.
The truth is my phone and presentation skills are average at best. It is more of the inner game rather than outer game that has earned me a solid 6 figure income at the age of 23… and you can definitely do it.
